Bellevue Adds 4 Speed Cameras in August

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Bellevue will deploy speed safety cameras at four locations starting Aug. 17, including areas near hospitals, parks, and school walk zones. The locations are 148th Avenue Northeast, Northeast Eighth Street, and two on Forest Drive Southeast. Citations for speed violations will begin in late September after a monthlong warning period. The city says speed cameras reduce speeding and prevent crashes, citing state law and Vision Zero goals. Bellevue already has three cameras in school zones. Three additional locations will be added later this year, with fines set at $124 for regular speed limits and $248 in school zones. Verra Mobility will manage the program, with citations issued after police verification.
