Bellevue is adding four new speed safety camera locations starting the week of August 17, with citations beginning in the third week of September. The cameras will be placed near hospitals, parks, school walk zones, and crash-prone corridors.
The city cited speed as a top factor in fatal and serious-injury crashes, stating cameras change driver behavior and reduce speeding. A monthlong warning period precedes enforcement, during which drivers receive warnings instead of citations. Citations will begin in September for the August installations, with fines set at $124 for standard violations and $248 in school zones. Three additional locations will be added later in 2026 as part of the Vision Zero initiative.
