Bellevue issues burn ban, advances affordable housing

King County Fire Chiefs Association issued a Stage 2 burn ban effective immediately for all outdoor fires, including campfires and cooking fires, but permits gas and charcoal grills on concrete surfaces.

Bellevue City Council unanimously approved moving forward on a development agreement with BRIDGE Housing for 100% affordable housing adjacent to BelRed light rail station, creating 140 units including 24 for people with disabilities. A public hearing will follow.

The council also directed staff to prepare an ordinance improving utility connection charges and approved a shared e-bike and e-scooter program launching August 10. Bellevue Fire Department is assisting wildfires in Spokane, Paradise, and Ferry County, with fire crews on the ground and resources available for home fire safety.
